Google’s New 17 Lens Virtual Reality Camera

Google recently announced its new Virtual Reality camera–the YI Halo on Monday, April 24. It has 17 lenses and costs $17,000. This camera provides a stunning 360 ° view and and experience that is very realistic. Teenagers across the country are thrilled and excited about the news. One Diegueno student– Alyssa Harriman says, “This camera sounds like a lot of fun and it would be so cool to try it out. It’s really expensive but Google will probably have a lot of customers because it seems so awesome!” However, some older people aren’t so pleased.  A Diegueno parent–Kathy Noel says “I don’t agree with all of this virtual reality stuff. I think that kids should experience real reality not virtual reality.” Many parents agree with Mrs. Noel on this point and fear that soon there will be no need to go outside at all. Lots of people already think that kids are spending too much time on electronics and not enough time outside so this may be too much.  “Like most VR camera rigs, the YI Halo is a bunch of action cameras cobbled together into a ring with a single camera on top. It looks like an old-school slide carousel that weighs about eight pounds”(CNN.com). The camera is projected to go on sale this summer and Google is planning on making a very large profit on this amazing piece of equipment.
