The deadly fire that spread throughout Northern California, was known as the Camp Fire. On Sunday November 8th, Cal Fire said that the Camp Fire was 100 percent contained, but later burned over 153,000 acres of land in California. The fire caused 85 people dead and 249 people injured. Near the city of Los Angeles, the Woolsey fire left 3 people dead and burned over 96,000 acres of land before it was finally contained.

Even though the Camp Fire is finally contained, rain help stopped the fires in different parts of the state, but caused a major problem for residents living in those affected areas and the rescue teams. Areas experiencing significant rainfall following a wildfire are at risk for debris flows and flash flooding,” said the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. When the Camp Fire started, about 52,000 people left the area in order to survive.

As a result of the fires, 120 people have been have contracted a contagious infection known as norovirus. Norovirus is a type of intestinal infection in adults and children. The Camp Fire is the deadliest fire in California’s history and is the deadliest fire in the United States since 1918.  This fire destroyed tons of properties all over Northern California and it will take a couple of years to rebuild what was destroyed, but the state of California will make an effort to fix the properties.
