Hamilton is a Broadway show that originally came out on August 6, 2015. The Broadway show of Hamilton is a musical with only R&B (rhythm and blues) and rap music with no speaking parts. This show is about Alexander Hamilton, a founding father, and his struggles with the revolutionary war, his wife, and his son. This show includes Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, George Washington, King George of England, John Laurens, Marquis de Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson, and the Schuyler family. Taking place in 1780, Alexander becomes an immature nerd who wants to sacrifice his life to the war to a passionate founding father of America. This Broadway show has become very popular, and ratings show that 95% viewers enjoy the performance.

Libby Thomas is a 7th grader who is a huge fan of Hamilton, and saw the Broadway show as a Christmas present last year. She has not only seen the show, but she obsesses over the songs and actors. She expresses, “Hamilton is such a creative Broadway production because Alexander Hamilton is a founding father who’s history isn’t often covered.” Then I ask, “Why do you like Hamilton?” She responded, “I love the hip hop, rap, and R&B songs, and the lyrics are very poetic and creative. It is definitely a 10/10 show.”  Libby says that she would definitely go watch it again and again.

Ana Kertesz, an 8th grader, is also a big fan of Hamilton. She has seen many Broadway shows, and Hamilton is one of her favorites. She rates it 11/10, and listens to the songs daily. I asked her why she likes Hamilton, and she said, “The songs are very catchy.” Ana also added,“It’s also very impressive how they display the show and how they tell the history, and it’s also really cool how I can connect the Broadway show to my history class at school. It makes my boring classes more enjoyable.”

Almost everyone has seen or heard of Hamilton. Hamilton is my favorite Broadway show and I rate the whole experience a 9.8/10. I would recommend watching this show to anyone who likes music—specifically rap—, Broadway shows, or if you just want to see something fun and different. So if you’re interested in Broadway, Hamilton is the show to see.
