The commissioner of the MLB said that they may be adding new teams according to a recent Baseball America Report (click HERE to see it). Montreal and Portland are the front runners, making 32 teams in the league instead of 30 if approved. The MLB is also considering Las Vegas, Vancouver, Orlando, Austin, and New Orleans. The Portland stadium build is said to be “…partially funded by a $150 million dollar grant.”

The 32 teams would be split into four divisions for each team or 2 in the AL and 2 in the NL. The winner of the four divisions would get a spot in the playoffs along with play-in games for the next eight teams in the standings. The winners of the play-in games would face off against each of the division winners in the Division Series. The four winners would go to the Championship Series and those two winners would advance to the World Series.

Part of the new plan is to cut the scheduled games down to 156 from 162. The bad part is some rival teams would be in different divisions. The good part is that each team would get a day off.

The italicised are AL tems and regular is NL. This is what the four divisions of eight teams could look like.
